“If you want to stay ahead, play like your behind.” – old saying in sports
Why does this work? We all know how this looks in the sports world. Some teams may not play with such urgency at the start of the 1st quarter, 1st round, 1st inning but as the time gets closer to the wire, the motivation and desire may kick in and the intensity heightens. Hopefully bringing incredible results that amount to a win. But how much better off could they be if they play like that at the start. What kind of results would incur?
At work, isn’t it amazing what we can get done in such a short period of time when we are getting ready to leave for vacation or some time off? We have a goal. We have desire and motivation to work harder to get faster results. If we play like we are behind, we will stay ahead of others. Think about the mental and emotional peace that could come from putting yourself in that position.
