If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.
~ Martin Luther King, Jr. – speech, Detroit, Michigan, June 23, 1963
That quote moved me to read Dr. King’s full speech that he gave on that day back in ‘63. It is called a Call to Consciousness, Speech at the Great March on Detroit. Dr. King in his speech speaks allot about Love and the importance of nonviolence in what they were trying to achieve. His words are amazing to read and are still ‘alive’ today.
Dr. King’s conviction, principles, and inner strength were intense. His goals for the time were outrageous and admirable. He was a hero.
There are many heroes walking around everyday. People who have that same strong inner conviction, a belief (no matter how big or small) that they hold so dear, so precious that they will do anything in order to stay true to that, no matter how hard it may be. Definitely something to be admired, desired and a quality (in my mind) we must all strive to achieve.
Dr. King Jr was a man with an unless amount of conviction for equality for all human races. Amazing speaker and leader who was able to move this country with his words. I was inspired by your MMQ and watched the ‘I Have A Dream Speak’. Here is the direct link:
